Aviation Career Day 2025

September 9, 2025

Calling All Educators

If you’re a teacher in the DFW area looking to give your students a front-row seat to the future of aviation, we’d love to have you join us! Aviation Career Day is more than just an event—it’s a launchpad for dreams, discovery, and career exploration.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals

Aviation Career Day is an exciting annual event designed to introduce middle and high school students across the DFW area to the dynamic world of aviation. This immersive experience brings together over 800 students and 100 aviation professionals for hands-on career exploration activities, industry insights, and meaningful connections with aviation professionals.

Whether your students dream of becoming pilots, engineers, flight attendants, or working behind the scenes to keep the skies moving, Aviation Career Day is a powerful opportunity to help them explore those possibilities—and see that a future in aviation is truly within reach.

Our Goals

We’re passionate about engaging students of all backgrounds. This event is designed to…

• Create awareness and excitement for aviation careers

• Build student confidence through STEM-based, research-informed activities

Foster career identity by connecting students with real-world role models

Strengthen school-industry partnerships that prepare students for future success

Our event is packed with engaging experiences designed to ignite passion and open doors for students exploring aviation careers:

Panel of Experts

Students will hear directly from inspiring aviation professionals who share their journeys, challenges, and triumphs—making it easier for students to envision themselves in similar roles.

Hands-On Activities

From flight simulations to engineering challenges, students will dive into interactive experiences that reveal their strengths and spark new interests.

Partners in Flight Booths

Local organizations and industry partners will be on-site to offer resources, mentorship opportunities, and clear pathways into aviation careers.

Engagement Passport

Students will receive a passport to guide their exploration throughout the event, encouraging active participation and rewarding curiosity with fun incentives.

To help level the playing field, students will have access to professional attire —removing barriers and boosting confidence as they take their first steps toward a future in aviation.

To Register

Please only reserve the number of tickets you are fully committed to using. Unused tickets limit access for other students who could greatly benefit from this experience. We want to ensure every available spot goes to a student ready to explore their future in aviation—thank you for helping us make that possible!

Please note that only students need to be registered at this time. Chaperones will be added by our Coordinator of STEM impact once your students are registered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend Aviation Career Day?

Aviation Career Day is open to middle and high school students in the DFW area. Teachers, counselors, and school administrators are encouraged to register their student groups. Individuals in grades 7-12 who are not part of an organized group can also sign up on the website but students who are less than 18 years of age at the time of the event must be accompanied by an adult.

What types of careers will be featured?

Students will explore a wide range of aviation-related careers—from pilots, engineers, and aircraft mechanics to air traffic controllers, IT specialists, cargo experts, meteorologists, drone operators, as well as corporate roles. The event highlights both frontline and behind-the-scenes opportunities, spanning more than 25 unique career paths across the aviation industry.

Is there a cost to attend?

No—The event is completely free! American Airlines sponsors the event to ensure all students have access to this incredible opportunity.

Can we attend both the morning and the afternoon session?

To ensure we can offer this incredible opportunity to as many students as possible, each group is asked to select only one of the two available sessions. Both sessions feature the same content and experiences.

My Preferred Session is Sold Out. Can I Get on a Waitlist?

Yes – you can sign up to be added to the waitlist is a session is full. Museum will contact you if spots open for your group.

What is the Difference Between “Full Access” and “Limited Access” Tickets?

Full Access tickets include participation in all scheduled activities during the session. However, due to limited seating in the theater, only the first 300 registered participants per session will be able to attend the Panel of Experts.

An additional 100 “Limited Access” tickets will be available for each session. These ticket holders will still enjoy access to all other activities in the program—just without the panel rotation. Please note that if your group arrives more than 30 minutes later than the beginning of your session, your tickets may be changed automatically to “No Panel” tickets to ensure all seats are occupied during the panel presentation.

What Time Should our School Plan to Arrive for the Event?

Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your event start time (9:30-9:45 for the morning session, 12:00-12:15 for the afternoon session).

What is the Schedule for the Event?

The event has 3 rotations (each 35 minutes) and 2 breaks. Rotations include the panel discussion, gallery activities and booths exploration. Wristband colors determine the order of the activities. Students will receive a copy of the map and of the schedule upon their arrival.

Can we Leave the Afternoon Session Early to Accommodate our Bus Schedule?

Yes. If you let us know ahead of time, we will do our best to modify your schedule so your students can get the best of the two rotations they will be able to attend before your scheduled departure time. Send us an email at education@crsmithmuseum.org and let us know your preferred departure time.

How Can I Make Sure My Students Get the Most Out of This Experience?

We suggest letting your students review the map once it becomes available and identify some of the experts and resources they are most interested in prior to the event so they can visit those first. Encouraging your students to collect passport stamps to win prizes will also ensure they engage with experts.

What should students bring or wear?

All attendees (including the adults) will be required to provide a signed model release form. Please note that the model release is mandatory to participate in the event. The form is available for download here [insert link].  We recommend bringing a reusable water bottle and a pen or a pencil.  Comfortable shoes are recommended. Keep in mind many of our partners will have recruiters on site and some may also have scholarship opportunities.  Dressing for success may help make a good first impression. A professional attire closet will have limited clothing items for students who need them.

Is there a place where students can eat lunch?

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of visitors during Aviation Career Day, the Museum will not be able to accommodate lunch rotations on premises. Alternative arrangements will have to be made if your students are not having lunch on the bus or at school. Please note that the event does not include lunch.

Can parents attend?

The Museum requires 1 chaperone for every 10 students during the event. We encourage parents who have an interest in participating in Aviation Career Day to connect with their child’s school.

Will the Museum be Open to the Public?

No, the Museum will be closed to the public during the event and only registered schools will have access to the Museum.
